Financial protection plans are designed to help you plan for the unexpected—and help protect the financial future for you and your family.

Life insurance

Life insurance is designed to help give your family financial security in the event of your death, helping them meet end-of-life expenses and other financial obligations.

This term life insurance policy pays cash benefits directly to the people you have identified as a beneficiary. The money can be used to help pay for funeral expenses, rent, mortgage, education costs and more.

Your employer provides you with Basic Life insurance coverage at no cost to you.

You have the opportunity to buy Supplemental Life insurance coverage. Please review your enrollment materials for details about coverage amounts available and guarantee issue amounts.

This plan includes Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage which pays an additional amount in the event of loss of life or limbs sustained in an accident.

Have access to advice and consultative services if you are traveling more than 100 miles from home.

Request guidance on how to get death certificate copies and manage notifications from the Social Security Administration, credit reporting agencies, and others.
Obtain assistance with helping to protect your loved one's identity with a credit report review, credit freeze or account closure with all credit bureaus, and resolution and recovery services in the event of identity theft.
Work with coordinators to discontinue social media access to loved one's accounts.

Disability insurance

Help protect one of your most important assets — your ability to earn an income. A disability insurance plan will give you a portion of your earnings if you can't work because of a disabling illness or injury.

Short-term disability insurance provides you with a portion of your weekly income if you have a qualifying disability and are unable to work. The weekly payments will help you pay expenses such as medical bills, mortgage or rent, food and more.

Receive monthly payments until you return to your job or reach the end of the benefit period, whichever comes first.
Work part-time and still receive benefit payments.
Have access to disability specialists who can work with you and your employer to help you make a successful return to the workplace.
Coverage is portable so, if you change jobs, you can take the plan with you.
Long-term disability insurance provides you with a portion of your monthly income if you have a qualifying disability and are unable to work for a long period of time. The monthly payments will help you pay expenses such as medical bills, mortgage or rent, food and more.

To help you through difficult times, the UnitedHealthcare Member Assistance Program (MAP) provides personal and confidential support, 24/7. As a member, you and your family will have access to:

Unlimited phone access to master’s-level specialists, 24/7.
Up to 3 referrals for face-to-face counseling sessions* .
One legal consultation of 30 minutes, with a choice to meet with an attorney by telephone or in-person to discuss legal concerns** .
A 30 – 60 minute financial consultation with credentialed financial professionals.
* There is no charge for referrals or for seeing a clinician within our network for up to 3 visits per issue.

** Due to the potential for a conflict of interest, legal consultation will not be provided on issues that may involve legal action against UnitedHealthcare, its affiliates or any entity through which the caller is receiving services directly or indirectly.
